For a second time in four years, Partner Abotsi chaired a session at the Commonwealth conference. This year’s event focused on the rule of law and Dean Abotsi’s session was on legal education and uber specialisation.
Commonwealth Lawyers Association (CLA) is a membership organisation for professional lawyers, academics and students practising within the Commonwealth although it welcomes qualified international lawyers and academics with an interest in its work. CLA seeks to uphold the rule of law by encouraging exchanges between members of the profession, through projects, conferences and workshops, and by driving improvements in legal education. CLA regularly engages with other Commonwealth organisations on Commonwealth working groups and projects and is an accredited partner organisation of the official Commonwealth. CLA holds a conference in a Commonwealth member state every two years.
Our last conference was in Melbourne in March this year and the next will be in Livingstone, Zambia in April 2019. For more information about the Commonwealth Law Conference please visit the conference website www.commonwealthlawconference.org where you will find regular updates on the conference. CLA also supports a number of smaller regular events throughout the Commonwealth (see our conference and events report section) and recently held events in Namibia and Belfast. All our events are open to CLA members
